Won’t You Be My Neighbor – Manlius, New York

By MidModMichelle

Hey y’all! Today we’re going to check out a snazzy 1950s split-level in New York state thanks to a tip from reader Mary B.! Even though it’s not a true time capsule, it still has many of its original features intact including some of the flooring, paneling, built-ins and fireplace. Let’s take a look!

This home is located at 806 Fayetteville Manlius Road St S, Manlius, New York on an acre lot in a desirable neighborhood. It is a 5 bedroom, 4 bath, 4,700 square foot home designed by Ray Park and built in 1955 that is being offered at $429,900. The listing is courtesy of Elizabeth Gaulin at Hunt Real Estate. For more information and additional photos you can check out the listing here. From the listing:

REMARKABLE! Mid century modern, multi level home located in Fayetteville’s Huntwood subdivision is offered for sale. This home was designed by Ray Park and constructed with steel beams and concrete floors. Dramatic ceilings and angles, 3 additions , and a meandering floor plan that offers huge, open spaces and private rooms. Kitchen has 2 dishwashers & a huge sub zero fridge. Lowere level must be seen to appreciate with it’s 2nd stone fireplace and enormous family room. The property is stunning … slate patios, in ground pool, a huge shed .. a retreat that is only seen from the back of the house. Walk to Wellwood and FayEl and escape village traffic and taxes.

ADDITIONAL EXTERIOR

ENTRY, LIVING ROOM & DINING ROOM

(I love the entry! I’d have a mod pendant light installed over the door area!)

(This is a really great space!)

(Very nice built-ins!)

KITCHEN

(For a galley kitchen it’s nice and large. I’d retro it up if it were mine!)

BEDROOMS & WALK-IN CLOSET

(More awesome built-ins!!)

DEN

(And more lovely built-ins!)

BATHROOMS

(It’s hard to tell from the photo, is that terrazzo on the floor and wall?)

REC ROOM

(Great windows in here!)

PATIO, POOL & YARD

(More of that amazing multi-colored slate!)

What a cool house, a few changes such as changing out some of the newer flooring, countertops and lighting would really give it a mod makeover! The listing description says it has a lower level rec room that sounds like it may be original but there are no photos of it- bummer! I also would have loved to see the other bathrooms, as there are 4 but only photos of 2. Anyhoo, what do y’all think?

Wow! This one is very close to where I live (Syracuse)! And only 4 times what my house cost… if only I could win the lottery!

I agree with your changes. The flooring in the living room is bugging me, and I’d also lose the colorful bedroom carpets. Love the built-ins and layout though. The landscaping is also gorgeous, and the pool area makes me think of a lovely 1950s summer resort.
