Won’t You Be My Neighbor – Altadena, California

By MidModMichelle

Hey folks! I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend and getting excited about the eclipse tomorrow! I’m in Nashville in the path of totality, which is really cool! Anyhoo, today for our viewing pleasure we have a sweet little atomic ranch in California that a friend alerted me about. It’s had some updating but they stuck to harmonious upgrades for the most part and I think it looks great. Let’s take a look!

This home is located at 327 Marathon Rd, Altadena, California on a secluded lot with mountain views. It is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 1,524 square foot home built in 1957 that is being offered at $799,000. The listing is courtesy of Pam Lansden at Coldwell Banker Homes. For more information and additional photos you can check out the listing here. From the listing:

Sweet Privacy! Up a long hidden driveway and behind a heavy wooden gate sits a smashing secluded 3 BR, 2 BA Midcentury home with mountain views. Away from the roar of the freeways and crush of the crowds, here you can find peace and quiet in the Big City. You will also find one of the grooviest gardens this side of Eden; A tempting apple tree, juicy orange, plum and lemon trees, plus veggies, Manzanita, bougainvillea and California sagebrush aka cowboy cologne. (Sweeten yourself by rubbing behind ears for big Saturday nights!)Meanwhile, back at the ranch style midcentury, open the door to style, grace and open space. It has one of those unbeatable 1950s open floor plans, vaulted ceilings, and a 2-sided wood burning fireplace next to a cozy family room.

(I like the color palette they chose!)

(The layout is really nice, and I love the fireplace!)

(Cozy den area with lovely built-in entertainment center. Maybe originally a bar area?)

(Fabulous choice of retro wallpaper! Not the biggest fan of vessel sinks but at least this one matches.)

I definitely want to hear your thoughts on this updated atomic ranch! I of course prefer original elements for the most part, but if a home is updated (in any architectural style) those updates should fit the time period/architectural style in my opinion. They did fairly well on this one I’d say! I’d live there! 😉

I’m pretty sure this house was on House Hunters Renovation. They did a nice job, it looks great (minus the vessel sink, ha ha)!!

I think that the updates fit in nicely. I actually love the tile they used for the backsplash in the kitchen. Is that linoleum flooring in the kitchen?
