My Vintage Easter Decorations – Cards, Towels and Tins!

I am so excited for Easter this year. Hubs and I are just going to stay home, make a giant ham and eat as much of it as we can on our own. No traveling at all. Hooray! Not that I mind seeing my family, but it is nice just to relax sometimes.
And while I am relaxing, I am going to do a ton of Easter things. We have eggs to dye, I am going to make a carrot cake in the shape of a lamb AND I am pulling out all of my vintage Easter decorations.
Here is a full-sized shot of the awesome printed towel I bought at the estate sale last weekend. I love it! I didn’t even unfold it all the way when I picked it up at the sale. Which, in retrospect, wasn’t the greatest idea because it could have been stained, but I was too nervous that someone was going to snatch it out of my hand to unfold it all the way. Pretty crazy, huh?
The towel is displayed on a vintage plastic hanger that was my mom’s when she was a little girl. It is totally adorable, with momma and baby kitties on it. It normally holds up a vintage clothespin bag shaped like a little girl’s dress in the laundry room, but I thought I would drag it out for this picture.
The clothespins, by the way, were my grandmother’s. I have some neat plastic ones as well, but I didn’t want to risk plastic on plastic damage hanging up the towel. Must…protect…clothespins! My grandmother would laugh so hard if she knew.

I also am putting out this tin, which I also got at the estate sale. 
Many of you have probably seen this before, since it was in a recent post. I, however, do not tire of looking at it, so I thought I would throw another picture of it in for good measure.
Oh! And we will be putting out some vintage Easter cards, too. I love these. They are the cards my Dad and his sister received in the late 40′s and early 50′s.
I have framed a lot of these cards and given them to my Dad, but there were a ton of them, so I have a lot of cute ones for myself still! I suppose I should think up something to do with these, but for now, I just put them around as decorations. 
An adorable chick from 1951. It is a Hallmark Color Card, which means the same image that is on the front is on the inside, but in black and white, ready to color. So cute! To top it off, the card is flocked. Bliss.

What a fun post! I love the vintage Easter cards. When you mentioned baking a cake in the shape of a lamb it reminded me of the first time I visited my husband’s family, back when we were dating. It was Easter weekend and I kept hearing about the lamb cake that Dave’s mom made every year. I thought they meant it was something made from lamb meat and was very nervous–wanting to make a good impression and all that, but not wanting to eat a cake made with lamb. Ugh. Imagine my relief when it came out and I realized it was carrot cake made in the shape of a lamb!
Ha ha! Great story, Julia! That is totally what I make, the lamb-shaped carrot cake. But many people have asked me why I put lamb in a cake before it gets explained to them!
