Tuesday’s Retro Guest – Jan’s Vintage Travel Trailers and Mobile Homes Showcase

Thanks for the great post, Jan.  I LOVE the pictures!  Hmm…maybe I can talk Tom into buying a vintage trailer, do you think it will work??

Remember the movie The Long, Long Trailer with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz?  They buy this fabulous mobile home trailer and tow it across America.    The movie was made in 1954 and the trailer was a Redman, manufactured in Alma, Michigan.  Some of those trailers were quite expensive and quite chic in decor.

Whether hitched to a tow vehicle or parked in a trailer park, this is mid-century modern on wheels!

Amazing Brick House and Vintage Airstream

Amazing Brick House and Vintage Airstream

Race and Picnic 023Hello everyone! Sorry I have been MIA the last copuple of days, but we had our open house yesterday and I had to do so much cleaning and cooking!  I think the party turned out really well, but more on that in the next few days.

Hubs and my friend Sara went to the Polish Festival 5k Race in Bay City on Thursday, so I spent some time hanging out before the race and working on some embriodery.  I also got some great pictures, both of the race and of some vintage sights around the race.

For example, here is a vintage Airstream that we noticed just sitting in someone’s yard.  I should have gotten a better picture!

And here is an amazing brick house that Hubs noticed along the race route. Race and Picnic 021

Beautiful, isn’t it?  The layout reminds me of our house, which I think is just a fabulous layout.  Unfortunately, this picture doesn’t show the great entryway, which has a really great front door. And I love the multicolored brick!

Well, I hope you are having a great weekend!  I am off to relax….

My Parent’s Vintage Trailer

My Parent’s Vintage Trailer

ruths-pictures-004So, my parents haven’t lived in their house for almost a year since they were flooded out.  They didn’t want to live in a hotel or apartment, so they are temporarily living in a trailer.  It is really cute and vintage!  It is from 1973, and is in good shape.

Here is a view from the kitchen into the little living room.

I love the legs on all of the cabinets in the kitchen, and I am pretty sure that is the original flooring. ruths-pictures-002

Here is a close-up of the floor. I would have taken more floor pictures, but my mom is really embarassed because she hasn’t had time to clean lately since we have been so busy moving and painting. ruths-pictures-003

Here is a sink full of (mostly) clean dishes. You can see a little bit of the backsplash in this picture. My mom made the curtains in the background, which go really well in the kitchen. I love the avocado green sink with the metal ring.

Once again, I would have taken more pictures, but it was dirty.

Here is one of my favorite things in the trailer, the vintage light fixture in the living room!

Hope everyone had a good week, and I can’t wait to return to normal life next week!
